The list in charts
Every chart is computed from all 345,162 words when the site is built, and each has a table of the same figures behind its Table button.
Its shape
From 1 letter to 47. The list has no length bound.
All 3,639,787 letters of all 345,162 words, counted where they stand.
Where its words came from
The list kept a record of how each word came in. "What decided each word" sorts those records into 4 values, each explained under its chart; the rule page has the same table.
Each word's record says how it got on the list. 1 rule sorts the records into 4 values, each explained under the bars.
- From a source
- It came from a word list, a dictionary, or a glossary of a field such as medicine. No language model or generator decided it.
- Checked with a model
- It passed a check of several steps, and a language model was 1 of the steps.
- A model's call alone
- A language model judged it a word, and no other check backs that.
- Generated by rule
- The list's synthetic engine made it by rule, for example by adding a prefix or a suffix to a word already on the list.
A word counts once under each channel its record names, so the bars can add up to more than the list. Most are the discovery log, where a word was first seen: a record of intake, not evidence that a source lists the word. 167,816 words (48.6%) name at least 1 of these channels. Channels withheld for license reasons are not shown.
Its size over time
The 2 drops are corrections, each recorded word by word in a ledger: the record lists them.
135 recorded days from May 13, 2026 to November 4, 2026, from its daily statistics. The table lists every day the size changed.
The axis starts at 340,000, not at 0.
Every run from August 13, 2026, the first to promote a word from the invalid list, to November 4, 2026: 45 runs added 64 words. No run was recorded from September 25 to October 29, 2026. Select a day for its log.
Every run has a page in the daily log: the words it added and how the list changed.
